New changes expected
For several years to come, each company will have to confront two major changes :

The establishment of the SEPA project. By the year 2012 companies must have joined this new European banking exchange format (Single Euro Payment Area)
- The disappearance of the ETEBAC protocol. With more than 90,000 users in France, ETEBAC is currently the main communication protocol between a company and its bank. This will cease, firstly as this service will be abandoned by Transpac and secondly because of its unsuitability with new variable-length message formats, due to the XML ISO 20022 standard. Replacement solutions have not yet been determined.
A long term unstable situation
All these changes will stretch over several years. The putting in place of SEPA will be done progressively and the disappearance of ETEBAC will happen when it is withdrawn from the market. This temporary situation, which will necessitate constant changes as the new technologies or new regulations arrive, is far from over.
